Ecclesiastes 8:15
"And I commend joy, for man has nothing better under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun."
Why It Matters:
We might watch this video and just think, "Aww, that's cute..." - and then move on to something else. What if it's true, though, that what kids and teens really want is simply time with important people in their lives?
I've started sending out a feedback survey after spiritual emphasis week, and one of the questions asks the students what their favorite part of the week is. Surely it must be chapel, right? If not chapel, maybe it's the Q&A times in their classrooms when they can get serious answers to their meaningful, anonymous questions. Perhaps they love getting time-consuming, handwritten, personal responses in their journals. While some may list one of those things as their favorite part of the week, overwhelmingly the most common answer is actually the interactions with the team members throughout the day! Why? Kids and teens value time with adults that they know care about them - and God works through that time.
Whether we're parents or not, we all have something very valuable to offer to young people: our time. May this short video encourage all of you to give that gift to one or more of them this week!
